Cybertecture Academy 2014

2 August – 10 August

The second Cybertecture Academy explored over a 10 day summer course in the studio of James Law Cybertecture the topics of "Design Skills of Architects" and "How to Design a Skyscraper?". Talks by professionals and interns shared with students the life of university architecture school and daily professional life of architects. Design workshops focused on skills of sketching, computer rendering, model making and teamwork. The course visited a professional architectural model making company to see how professionals use tools and materials to make models of buildings, visited a developer who has built the Hong Kong's tallest skyscraper to understand how a tall building operates and is maintained,  and toured a Jockey Club Innovation Tower at Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, designed by Zaha Hadid architect. A grande finale had the students present in teams their proposal for the world's tallest tower in Hong Kong to a group of professional architects, academics and developers in front of parents, before graduating with certificates from the course.
